The Active Hands Company produce a range of gripping aids which can enable you to do activities you never imagined you’d be able to if you have very poor grip or loss of muscle control in your hands and arms. Their creator Rob Smith was fellow runner-up alongside Trabasack inventor Clare Edwards for the Stelios Disabled Entrepeneur of the Year in 2010, and this year he was joint winner scooping a £50,000 prize.
Range of Gripping Gloves
Active Hands come in a range of different types depending on the activities you want to take part in. There is the original general purpose aid which can be used for all manner of household tasks from DIY jobs to sports such as kayaking. The original general purpose Active Hand is designed to aid those who, for whatever reason, have difficulty gripping and holding objects securely. The Active Hand does this for you and can unlock a whole host of tasks which you might thought would be far more difficult including working out in the gym and gardening.
Since the development of the original product, Rob has added to his range with a number of other products including:
Mini Aids – designed specifically with youngsters in mind. A brightly coloured adaptation of the original general purpose aid designed for under-5s.
Looped Exercise Aids – these allows for using a wider range of exercise machines specifically those with pull down bars and also rowing machines.
Outdoor Aid – ideal for gardening and winter sports such as skiing. Purposefully designed so you can wear a thick pair of gloves underneath.
The range is clearly trying to cater for every activity and is extremely innovative and well developed.
